Permanent Public Art Installation: Cast glass panels, light
As arriving international passengers approach the passport checkpoint,
they are greeted by the word “welcome” in the 22 languages
most commonly spoken in San Francisco. The multilingual greetings appear
on custom-cast glass panels (36" x 60") built into a row of
columns. As passengers move near the columns, the words abruptly disappear,
because of the viewers’ position in relation to the glass.
